Transporting your Canoe

The most import thing to consider in canoe transport are the position of the canoe anchor points. The further apart the anchoring points the better. This decreases the unsecured windage area fore and aft of the mounting points. This is particularly important when hauling your canoe in heavy cross winds.

Most vehicles don’t allow for wide cradle placement so do your best. Our canoes are built heavier in the area between the iakos, so secure your canoe in that area. I  recommend hauling the canoes up side down, as most hulls are white and deflect sunlight the best. Canoe decks with dark colors retain an incredible amount of heat, and hauling them exposed on sunny days can often leave strap marks on them.
Remember to always remove your seat!
